Jamie Hannah, Account Executive
Having worked on the other side of the table in both print and digital media, Jamie brings a progressive point of view to Motion PR. Her work in the field began at Lowe Communications, a financial public relations and marketing firm in her hometown of Milwaukee, WI. Between orchestrating extensive media contact lists to writing and editing press releases for clients like Robert W. Baird and Actuant Corporation, Jamie not only learned the value of what to say to generate media interest in different brands/products, but also how and to whom to say it.
From Lowe Communications, Jamie moved on to marry her understanding of the logistics of media outreach with a creative passion for food and writing as a public relations and editorial assistant at EatingWell Magazine in Charlotte, VT. At EatingWell, Jamie had her hand in everything from editing the magazine’s print copy, to lending imagination to the magazine’s web redesign, conducting market research and writing press releases. She spearheaded the publicity campaign behind the magazine’s “America’s Top Ten Farmers Markets” feature, garnering media attention from numerous print and online outlets across the country. At EatingWell, Jamie learned that the most powerful tool in public relations is a clear understanding of not only where a product/brand came from, but also a creative approach to where it is going.
Today, Jamie’s savvy passion for telling the stories behind her clients’ products/services has generated media interest from print outlets like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Newsweek, Glamour, Redbook and Self, to FOX Business, CNN, CNBC and numerous blogs and websites across the country.
Additionally, Jamie has also served as a marketing consultant at The Onion, America’s Finest News Source, and as a media consultant for several start-up companies.
Jamie holds a B.A. in English – Creative Writing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She also lived and studied abroad in Cork, Ireland. She loves to cook, and is a freelance contributor to DiningOut magazine as well as a number of other food publications in her free time.
- Favorite Chicago Pastime: She likes to try every new (and old) restaurant she possibly can.
- Favorite Food: She likes anything that Ina Garten tells her to make, like braised short ribs. And Brick Chicken from Spiaggia. And brownies from Steve’s Deli. And sushi from Sunda. And…(more and more)
- Favorite Place to Travel: Italy. Vermont is beautiful in her eyes, too.
- Must-Read: “Under the Banner of Heaven” by John Krakauer. She’s also an avid follower of Sasha Frere-Jones in The New Yorker and “This American Life” on NPR. Jamie loves Bill Bryson, too.
