Derek Serafin, Senior Account Executive
With experience in a wide array of industries, Derek brings tenacity and a unique outlook to Chicago’s leading PR Agency, Motion PR. Having worked as a reporter has helped him to better understand what goes in to a successful pitch to the media.
Derek is a lifelong Chicagoland resident. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Print Journalism from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, Derek immediately landed a full time position at a boutique public relations/marketing agency specializing in trade shows while also doing freelance writing for the Daily Southtown newspaper and completing his Masters’ Degree in Print Journalism at Roosevelt University.
Prior to joining the Motion PR team, Derek worked for several years at the nation’s largest PR agency specializing in franchising, Fishman Public Relations. During his tenure there, Derek worked on more than a dozen accounts, leading several, and securing placements for clients in the Wall Street Journal, FoxBusiness.com, Chicago Tribune, and other high-profile media outlets.
- Favorite Chicago Pastime – Checking out a concert at one of the many great small local venues the city has to offer. Also cheering on the Cubs, Bulls and Bears.
- Favorite Food – No one particular food, but partial to eating at Longman and Eagle, Hot Doug’s, Kuma’s and other places Chicago “foodies” love.
- Favorite Place to Travel – New York and Disney world. Hope to add to this list in the future.
- Must-Read – I find myself reading various food, music and basketball blogs.
