Bustling Boutique PR Firm Seeks Senior PR Account Executive
We are a bustling, boutique PR agency with an ever-growing roster of local and regional clients — from Food & Beverage to Health & Beauty, Consumer Packaged Goods, Travel & Hospitality, Athletics, Technology, and more. We are seeking a seasoned PR professional to serve as a Senior Account Executive and help manage and contribute to our growing operation. Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years PR agency experience, with a strong emphasis on media relations, pitching and team management.

The bulk of our business is media outreach — both local and national, online and in print, on TV and radio. We work around the clock to establish relationships with key editors and producers from coast to coast
Additionally, when our clients require things like media training, event planning, crisis management, sponsorship and web relations, we are happy to meet their demands.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:
Team Management: SAE will oversee the day-to-day management of a full-time team of junior staff members. This will include providing direction on daily duties, ensuring that all internal and external deadlines are met, counseling team on pitching efforts to ensure success, ensuring that all media monitoring is up-to-date, facilitating client updates and internal internal brainstorms, recruiting and hiring team members as needed, etc.
New Business: SAE will be responsible for fueling the growth of the agency overall. This will including reaching out to prospective new business partners, facilitating new business meetings, developing and presenting new business proposals to secure partnerships, negotiating budgets, sending contracts and managing any new business that comes through the door.
Account Management: Our Senior PR Account Executive (SAE) will serve as the liaison on a number of different client accounts (simultaneously), working directly with clients to stay up-to-date on relevant information, sculpt media expectations, set and manage expectations and goals, facilitate meetings and updates, etc. SAE will collaborate with clients’ in-house PR teams as well.
Media Relations: SAE will oversee/manage media pitching of junior staff members, while also tackling a healthy portion of the workload and securing media placements. This will include assembling necessary press materials, particularly the cornerstone of our gateway to media, the email pitch. This will also encompass continuing to build and maintain already-established relationships with media across the country.
Administrative: SAE will also be responsible be providing and executing annual reviews for junior staff members, collecting and overseeing client invoicing, and taking the lead on any other administrative tasks that surface. Since we’re a relatively small office, we all wear a lot of hats and share administrative duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
3-5 years PR agency experience with an emphasis in media relations and pitching
Solid managerial experience
Strong relationships with key media in Chicago, the Midwest and across national press
Familiarity with media databases (Such as Cision, Vocus)
Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong ‘sense’ of the media – what they want, how to approach them and, when necessary, how to retool approach

Proven record of meeting deadlines

Ability to problem solve and revive media pitches and angles that are not working
