March Momness: Going Crazy for Mom’s Who Battle Breast Cancer
By Caroline Baumgartner
Traditionally March is focused around two things: St. Patrick’s Day and college sport’s spring spotlight March Madness. But this year instead of focusing on everything green and unbelievable buzzer beaters, Motion PR is helping the Chicagoland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure celebrate amazing mom’s across the Chicagoland area who take breast cancer head on and fight strong.
All month long Komen Chicago will be celebrating moms and all women who further research, education and screening through volunteerism. They will raise breast cancer awareness by sharing inspiring heartfelt stories of survival and courage, determined fundraising efforts, offering special race registration discounts and giving away raffle prizes.
One story that we’re honored to know is of Kim Jewett and her two children, Kalli and Tyler. Kim is 36 years old and just finished her second battle with breast cancer. This year Kalli (11) and Tyler (9) are ‘wigging out’ with a fundraiser in her honor and to raise awareness of the disease among their peers. It is their hope to raise $100 per day during the entire month of March.
We’d like to invite you to share an inspirational story and join us for March Momness as we recognize moms who bravely battle breast cancer and who volunteer to make a difference in their community. To participate simply post a photo or short story and help us rally as a team to further the mission to end breast cancer forever. You can also support the cause by registering for this year’s Race for the Cure on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2013.
