Every week I feel like I am being bombarded with countless ways I can make my skin healthier, boost my immune system, or reduce split-ends. It can become overwhelming to keep up with health trends. However, something I can sink my teeth into and get serious about is olive oil – an ingredient I use all the time!
Did you know that olive oil is an anti-inflammatory, high in antioxidants, which contributes to heart, digestive, bone and even cognitive health? A large-scale study in France showed that intensive use of olive oil helped improve visual memory and visual fluency in older adults. Craving more tid-bits about olive oil? Well this is your week to explore the health advantages of olive oil and ways you can use the fundamental ingredient.
Olive Oil from Spain is presenting a unique week of dining in Chicago focused on the unique uses of olive oil. This week, both Vermilion and Mercat a la Planxa will offer unique dishes made using an olive oil from Spain. These dishes will highlight the unique flavors as well as show diners how olive oil can be used as a primary ingredient in cooking.
Additionally, on Wednesday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m., Vermilion will be hosting a special three-course olive oil dinner infused with distinct, vibrant Spanish flavors. Also, Alfonso J. Fernandez, Olive Oil from Spain’s resident olive oil expert will share how cooking with different olive oil varietals, such as Hojiblanca or Arbequina, can liven any dish, even desserts. He will also be on-hand to share cooking tips, techniques, and insights with guests.
So, let’s celebrate olive oil from Spain this week! To make a reservation, contact Derek Searfin at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling Vermilion at 312- 527-4060. Must be paid in advance of the event. Tickets are going fast, don’t be left out!
